RBS? “Get Your Rusty Butt out the Door!”

Sometimes I hear these words in my head when I wake up in the morning. 21 years ago I was rooming with a good friend who quoted his mother as saying, “get your rusty butt out the door” whenever the kids were late to school. I’m sure he wouldn’t remember telling me this little factoid from his childhood, but it has stuck with me for over two decades. It conjured an image of a kid struggling to walk out the back door with creaking, squeaking sounds ala the Tin Man.

In short, it cut me to my core. My butt has too often been oxidized.

Is the “rusty butt syndrome”, (RBS) as it shall now be called, stopping you from getting things done? Mine squeaks every morning as I get out of bed to exercise. But I hear my friend’s impersonation of his mom in my head and I am shamed into action.
Overcoming RBS is the main barrier to getting healthy. Once a rusty butt is in motion, the WD40 (workout daily > 40 minutes) lubes it up and oxidation is abated for at least a day. Then again in the morning….RBS.

I think it is the key to getting healthy. Overcoming daily RBS is not only my first goal, but also my mantra, my motto, my law.
